Are Natural Hair Products Worth the Cost?

The shampoos, conditioners and styling products for kids that we find at mass stores are appealing for obvious reasons. They’re affordable, convenient, and we love all of their unique scents. But what makes them affordable may be cause for some concern. Although some mass distributed kid’s hair products do contain high-grade ingredients typically found in smaller natural brands, they only contain small amounts of them. And most contain chemicals, which can strip delicate hair of its natural oils, essentially drying it out and causing tangles.

They’re also known for diluting their products with fillers. These tend to make your baby’s hair feel super soft, but over time can leave behind a waxy build-up. Although your little ones’ hair may feel soft it isn’t healthy hair, hydrated from within.

Luckily, more and more mass brands are working to solve these issues. Many are going sulfate-free or swapping out harsher ingredients for organic alternatives. The reason natural brands tend to be on the pricier side is because they are concentrated with high-grade ingredients. They often consist of vitamins, oils and minerals that are truly nourishing, yet too pricey to exist in most mass store options. These hair products also include less fillers than their mass store counterpart, preventing that waxy build-up and instead, hydrating from within. Because these premium products are more concentrated, you don’t need to use as much to see results. In the long run, most would agree that you end up spending about the same, no matter which side of the coin you choose. The major difference is that natural products last longer and contain higher amounts of quality ingredients that truly are better for your hair.

In the end, you will most likely spend about the same. The major difference is that natural hair products last longer and contain higher amounts of quality ingredients that are better for your child’s hair. You should see less knots, frizz, and build-up.
